Watering Guide

Water, Water, Water

Your new plantings will need an inch of water per week for the FIRST YEAR.

IF YOU FAIL TO WATER YOUR PLANTS, THEY WILL DIE 🙁

Water daily for the first 2 weeks after planting unless you get rainy weather, then decrease the frequency that you water plants to 3 times a week. Water non woody plants for 5 seconds, woody plants: each plant for 15 seconds, and trees for 30 seconds- set your nozzle to: Shower

THE BEST TIME TO WATER IS IN THE EARLY MORNING

SPRING: Water 3 times minimum per week. (if it does not rain)

SUMMER: When it is hot, you have to water daily.

When it is very hot (90°+) you need to water twice a day.

FALL: Water 3 times per week (if it doesn’t rain) until the leaves fall off.

Check All Plants Weekly

Check newly planted trees and shrubs every few days for the first two weeks. Annuals and perennials should be checked more often. After those two weeks, check every 7 to 10 days. If you see anything that looks strange like: spots on your leaves, an insect infestation, holes in your leaves, leaves that appear to be eaten by critters. Let us know and we can give you suggestions on what to buy for your garden OR we can come by and fix the issue at an additional cost.

The first year of watering is ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL to your plants survival before becoming established.

Graceland Gardens assumes no liability for replacement of plants killed or damaged by pests, insect infestation, abnormal weather conditions, or other conditions beyond our control , nor will we replace plants experiencing “seasonal die-back”, when pruning and proper care will restore them to health.

Let us know if you have any questions!
